Jessica Westerberg

I study my second year in the Product Design programme at Beckmans College of Design.

I am fascinated by sculptural forms in everyday use objects, in combination with solid craftsmanship. Most commonly I work with materials such as ceramics, concrete, glass and metal. I wish to develop and identify new methods and manufacturing techniques for the creation of unique, exceptional and well designed objects. Creating makes me blissful and content, and when I work, I mix in my own emotions into it, and do things in a way that feels right to me.

Ever since I was a child, I have carried a desire to create, and work with my hands. I have always had a mental image of how I want something to look. When I get that image, that idea, all I want to do is make it a realisation.

To me, it is important to pass on a legacy of Swedish traditions and handiwork, as my vision is to cherish our history and contribute to the preservation and development of the Swedish art of craftsmanship that has depleted over the years. My goal is to work with a locally produced, solid Swedish handiwork.
